A Picture tells a thousand wordsNovember 5, 2022

In an earlier post, I said I was doing a thing. I still am. Me being me, it needs a plan. The How, When & Where.
As per the above post, I am heading back to South East Asia for up to seven months, from later this month. Longest trip I have done in years – I was busy falling into a career with Morrisons since my last one – and to parts of the world I am familiar with. However with the changes wrought across the world due to the pandemic and its fallout, and from my little taster of the region back in May, I feel that going now will almost be like forging a new path not taken by others. It is also an opportunity to discover new places that I am yet to see across the region making it all very exciting!
Looking at visiting the following countries (in order); Thailand (Bangkok to Lanta to North East), Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia (Peninsula), Singapore, Indonesia. With options on Taiwan, South Korea, Japan & China should their restrictions change while I am out in Asia – hell, I could extend my time out if needed. This would average three weeks in each country except Singapore (as while it’s great, I do not have the budget for 3 weeks in that city!) and Thailand (Looking at about 5-6 weeks).
Three weeks would be enough to do the highlights and still find those gems off the old school banana pancake trail, however will require a combination of overnight trains (where possible) and short hop local flights to make it work, not quite the environmental message I want to put out there but hey ho.
Let’s see how it goes when I get on the ground as even my trip back in May had a few changes on the go, mostly due to lockdowns/catching Covid myself. Back in the day though this route was easily workable with time frames.
He's just this guy, you know.
